Rustic Vineyard Wedding

I just finished this lovely letterpress wedding suite for some great clients. Jill and Jeff are having an intimate outdoor wedding at a Vineyard in Indiana. We based the graphics on the Bride’s favorite flower, Queen Anne’s Lace. The suite is printed on 110lb soft cotton paper, with 2-color letterpress:

Both Jill and Jeff write crossword puzzles, so we decided to tie this into the response card to add a bit of fun and a personal touch:

In lieu of an informational insert, we put the necessary info on a small tear-off piece, attached to the reply card. Who doesn’t love a perforation?

Such a sweet set for absolutely lovely clients. Yes, I know, I have the best job ever.

Destination Wedding

Angie is such a fun bride to work with. She knew she wanted bright colors, and an invitation suite that focused on FUN for their wedding in Hawaii. So we started with the shape of Oahu, and added just that: color and fun. The suite is offset printed, on 110lb cotton paper.

I created an illustration of two palm trees forming a heart, which we repeated on the RSVP postcard:

For the RSVP, we created space for each guest to write their name, as well as their “favorite shave ice flavor”, and “favorite dance song” (did I mention how fun this bride is?):

Wyatt Ink and the Backyard Movie Party

Last week, Kelli Bielema of Shindig Events launched a new party package called Cinefresco. The best thing since the drive-in movie, Cinefresco actually brings the big screen to your backyard (as well as concessions, vintage movie decorations, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff).

I was thrilled when Kelli invited me to be a part of this project, and design some awesome vintage-inspired invitations to go with the Cinefresco packages. So here they are! I had a lot of fun designing them, and I hope you love them too!

In addition to the invitations, I’m making tickets to be passed out at the movie parties. Here are the examples I had at the launch:

Pacific Northwest Pine

I just finished this sweet job for one of my fantastic couples. Nancy and Matt are proud of their Pacific Northwest roots, and have chosen to base their invitation suite on the area, and the beautiful trees that come with it.

For their Save the Date, we chose to do a 2-color letterpress postcard, using thick (thick!) cotton paper. Honeybee Press did an amazing job with the printing, and the final product is a luxuriously soft postcard, with deep impressions (have I mentioned I love letterpress?). Can’t wait to get started on the invitations!

Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. Since elementary school, it’s been a time to get together with friends, get crafty, and then spread the love! This year I spared my friends from my terrible poetry, and instead made delicious salted caramels, using grey sea salt. And now it’s time to get back to my REAL work! Luckily for me, that’s just as fun.

One of my dearest friends just had a baby, and I could not be more thrilled. Living across the country I wasn’t able to attend her shower this past month, so I jumped on the opportunity to make her some spunky postcard invites. Hope you like ‘em!

John and Tressa’s wedding was such a blast. I know I’m going to get beautiful professional photos of the signs, programs, and other fun things we got to create for them, because Barbie Hull is awesome. But I’m way too excited about it all to not post anything in the meantime! The Paper Bride

I have fallen in love with the Paper Bride, by Esther K. Smith! Esther is a designer and letterpress printer, and fills this beautifully-printed book with practical instructions and creative ideas. My favorite tutorials include making your own envelope liners and making a pop-up map insert! I often encourage my crafty clients who are on a tight budget to add handmade details themselves, to highlight our printed designs.

Fall Colors!

Walking through Wallingford this afternoon I couldn’t help but be inspired by the bold colors of Autumn! How about an invitation suite with each piece a different shade of red, purple or yellow, combined with delicate (and perhaps even lacy) papers! Or a subtle tree pattern pressed into the paper, with small splashes of color on the leaves… Sigh… I love this time of year.
